Let's keep it positive, OK?

Because I'm starting to feel some anxiety about my impending labor and delivery, I am putting out a call to all moms who have some good stories to tell.

They can be about your personal experience or you can borrow a friend's story. Heck, make it up if you want! I don't care. I love fiction and non-fiction equally.

I just need to know that there's a possibility that this isn't going to be as bad as I've heard it is.

In the mean time, here's a list of "birth surprises" I found on a site called Babycenter.com that kind of made me smile.

  1. Dear Lily,
Just a couple of quick thoughts for you while your blog followers are composing some interesting, reassuring and heartwarming birth stories. Look at all the women who have had 3,4,7,8 babies. It is totally normal to feel stressed but you have to keep reminding yourself that people would no way keep having multiple children if it was not do-able. For every difficult birth story, there are lots of stories telling that the baby just slipped right out. Meredith is a perfect example - 2 1/2 hours of labor, 6 minutes of pushing. That is just as likely to be a description of Eleanor Grace's delivery. (Leah - help me out here - do you have a similar story?) You are doing everything you can to assure a good delivery and healthy baby. Sounds like your body is doing some preparation with Braxton Hicks. All very good!
Enjoy this last trimester - you and Morgan have a wonderful experience in store. xox Carole

  2. Lilly,

I am the same as you... scared to death of the whole process, and I haven't even felt any of these so called braxton hicks contractions, so who knows what that means, (although I may have felt something like them today, not sure...) Anyway, everyone I have talked to has said the same thing Carole did, why would women keep having children if it was that bad? Even the people whos stories scare me say they would do it over in a heart beat for what they got out of it. But I know what you are feeling... I will let you know in about a month what it is like... and if it sucked than I will lie to you :) J/K....

    Take care!

p.s. have fun in Portland this weekend... oh and put up some more belly pics before you go! please.

  3. Thank you both. Life in the Cox household has been a tad stressful lately what with all the renovations, the unforgiving Southern Georgia heat and just general discomfort I'm starting to feel. I need as much positivity as I can get right now.

Rebecca, belly pictures are coming soon, but I don't think I'll have time before I leave today to post any here. Look for pictures from the baby showers in Oregon and Boston. I'll have Morgan upload them from his iPhone or something.

    xoxoL

  4. Tonight begins your R & R - stress-free relaxation in the low-humidity, warm, sunny, but not-too-hot Oregon climate. Yippeee - you soon!
